How to add images, videos, and files

Mac

Images and videos

There are numerous ways to insert images into your entry:

  • Drag the image or video directly into editor from the Finder or other apps
  • From the Menu Bar, go to Format > Insert > File (⇧⌘V) and choose the image or video file
  • Right-click and choose Take Photo to insert the image directly from nearby iPhone/iPad
  • Copy an image from another app, and paste it into Diarly
  • In the Photos app, click the share button and pick Diarly from the list of available apps to share to

Once you have added an image, you can double click on it to open it.

Files

  • Drag and drop files directly into any day's entry
  • From the Menu Bar, go to Format > Insert > File (⇧⌘V) and choose the file

Once your file is attached, it can be edited externally. After making changes to a file, Diarly will detect the change and update the new version to iCloud.

Please note that when making changes to a file on two devices at the same time, only the newest version will be used.

iOS

To add an image, video, or file, start editing the entry so the keyboard toolbar is displayed. You can then tap on the image icon above the keyboard. This will show you options to attach an image from the Camera, Image Library or Files.

You can also share files from other applications, using the share extension. You can read more about sharing photos in the Apple User Guides.

Once you add an image, video, or file, you can double tap to open it.
