How to use AI Assistant
The AI Assistant is an external service provided by OpenAI. Diarly allows you to easily bring up the AI Assistant, ask a question, and get the answer provided from the service into your journal entry.
You can think of the assistant as talking to Wikipedia. It can answer questions, but it's not learning and doesn't have access to real-time services like the weather or news.
Diarly uses GPT-3, which stands for "Generative Pre-trained Transformer 3". It is a computer program that can understand and generate human-like language. This means that it can read and understand questions or tasks that you give it, and then generate appropriate responses or take action based on your request.
How to use it
To use the AI Assistant, open a new or existing entry on the editor. Type the slash command /ask on the editor, and hit enter to select the option "✨ Ask AI assistant".
Once the dialog is open, enter your question or task, and hit enter. The assistant will then provide a response, and Diarly will insert that answer into the journal entry.
Here are some examples of how you can use the AI Assistant in your journal:
- Quickly look up information while writing in your diary
- Get help brainstorming ideas for your diary entries
- Ask for inspiration, affirmations, or thought-provoking questions
Privacy
Your privacy is our main concern, and we assure you that no personal or sensitive information is shared with OpenAI or any other third parties. You can decide what information you provide by typing it into the Assistant dialog, and absolutely nothing other than the prompt itself is shared with OpenAI. If you are not comfortable with the AI Assistant, please don't use it. It is not enabled by default, and cannot read any information outside of the question submitted through the /ask command.
Please keep in mind:
- Diarly connects to the external service only if and after you start the dialog, type the question, and press enter.
- The AI Assistant only has access to the prompt that you send through the assistant dialog in Diarly.
- Please do not share anything private or sensitive with the assistant.
- The assistant may generate offensive or dangerous content. Diarly is not liable for the content generated.
Pricing
The AI Assistant is available as a premium feature within Diarly, and as a subscriber, you will receive credits each week to use it. Each question and answer or request and response takes an amount of credits, or tokens, depending on the length of the question and answer.
